Careers

At KAA we run an internship program and have two sets of interns coming into the firm each year. One set entails students from the Law Development Center. The second set entails law students from various universities within and out of Uganda. The program is designed to introduce the interns to the practical working life of a lawyer. They are chosen through a rigorous system in which we partner with the universities to identify the most talented students to join the program. During the program, the interns are largely given research and writing assignments. Each is attached to a mentor and is afforded an opportunity to rotate among 3 lawyers within the firm including a partner. The interns are encouraged to expose themselves to as many practice areas as possible. They are also mandated to observe and participate in court hearings, negotiations, filings at various government offices, among other activities.

Our goal is to afford the interns a working knowledge of the law and the expectations of a lawyer within the workplace. We use the internship period to identify individuals with the potential to come on board as full time employees.
